4500 the maximum MB that fits on a DVDR.

I have registerd dvd4500.com and will start creating a database
for succesful DVD9 (dual layer) to DVDR stripping and transcoding.

Example:
This "movie name" with French Audio
stripped-out fit on 4500MB etc

This way you do not need settle for trial and error.
And I may create a front end for DVD decrypter and IFOedit,
so it will just be a point and click.

Normal Metric:
A "K" is a 1000, but then it comes to computers it is 1024
(due to that is a even number in hexadecimal)

DVD-R are marked 4.7GB, the same way a HD is marked 80GB
They use k=1000 (that sure will make it look bigger)

A DVDR can hold:
4.39GB : 4500MB : 4,608,000KB : 4,718,592,000 Bytes

As nero uses 4500MB to show limit, that will be my webpage name.

Any word on when your site will be up? Its a great idea! I hate it when I strip the most out of a movie for a back up, only to find its just over sized for a DVD-r

I'm building a list as I go, I need to come up with a standard
how the list should be created so maybe a script can auto-run
Dvd-decrypter, Ifoedit, Nero (and tmpgenc if needed)

Here is one for now:

Movie: The Time Machine

Rip all VTS_01_x.VOBS (and VIDEO_TS files)

Strip audio/subs, keep english 6channel AC3 and one subtitle

Skip vobid2

Now 4.32 GB (or 4429 MB), fits like a glove............

Lots of people will want other streams (languages and such). Knowing the lenght of the movie, and the bitrate of the streams, you can know very easily how much space every audio track really is, the main thing is knowing 0xE0's size...

I like ripping just the movie, screw all the extra crap. Then I go to

To grab a pic of the movie and set up a title screen with just a PLAY button on it that way when u start the movie it sits at the title screen.

I like better than hitting pause while everyone goes gets popcorn or whatever then when ready just hit play and movie starts. Also, I have a DVD changer so its fast sometimes to just see the title screen to know what movies in what slot without having to fast forward into the movie to see. All about convenience....

Anyways my long winded point is if you ever get this going a link or point to a title screen would be much apprecieated. Good idea in genereal.

ps. so would you post the most optimized bitrate to re-encode larger movies so that it just fits on one DVD-R?
